How We Paint the Portraits of Ronald Reagan

The Painting Process

The oil painting process at The Ronald Reagan Collection begins and ends with what you, the customer, wants.

The first step in having an oil painting made is for you to choose your painting. Choose from any of the pictures or paintings on our site or, if you still haven’t found what you’re looking for there, we could also create a painting from any good sized digital image of Ronald Reagan, please contact us for more information.

Once you have decided which painting(s) you would like to have made, simply place your order on our website. If you have any problems with the ordering process please feel free to send us an email and one of our courteous customer service agents will be happy to give you any help you require.

Once an order is placed online we begin the painting process.

The artists begin with a light pencil drawing on a cotton / linen canvas.

Once the outline has been approved, the artist will begin painting. The artist will apply paint to the painting everyday but needs to wait a few days in between coats of paint as to not blur the colors. It takes between 8 and 14 days to paint.

Once the painting is finished the master artist will check the painting. If changes are needed, the master artist will then "touch-up" the painting. We will then take pictures of the finished masterpiece and send them to you by email. If you would like to make changes, you have the opportunity to tell us. We will then send you new pictures of the painting by email. We will not send you your painting until you are 100 percent satisfied with the painting
.

Although this is a finished protrait, because of flash and angle, it's hard to see the rich oil colors as they would appear in person.
